I recently bought a Weatherby Mark V in AccuMark 30-378 Weatherby Magnum. My intentions are to make it for hunting in Michigan, use, and hunting in the West. My first attempt at hunting with a rifle entered the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
With this rifle for stalking in the UP is not advisable for their hunting in dense forest. The length of the barrel, it is difficult, sometimes quietly move due to their tendency to catch on everything around you. The other thing that Inoticed is that the gun muzzle is very heave, which is nice when you turn it on film, but can be a pain after a while if your not with a sling and went a long way.
Most of my hunting was a pop-up ground blind people do. If you plan to have with the Mark V AccuMark in this kind of scenario, I say a thing: Get a BIG pop-up blind. This weapon requires a lot of room to get it from window to window on the 28 "barrel swing. I tested found in my latest blind and thatin the heat of the moment, I could break the blind right out of the game and leave me sitting outside in my chair. I was pretty frustrated when one morning I heard deer movement through the swamp, but could not determine which of the three holes, she came through and had to sit there and wait before poking the rifle out the window. Next year I will be a larger pop-up blind.
I have not tested the gun from which a TREE STAND, because the situation we hunt is not practical for theiruse. The foliage is too thick to by if your in a tree, if you look in the right place and then the trees withered either poplar or redwood trees, and I did not have a ladder.
I'm going to update this article with new information after I test the gun on the pitch.
